People droppin' like flies...It's like the polio around here!

OHHHH THE HUMANITY!!!

Can somebody come up with their million dollar idea to save the industry already? It's been reported in a recent article that EMI will be conducting a "massive restructuring" and cutting upwards of 2,000 jobs. Let's hope those severance pays keep ex-employees out of the unemployment line for a while. But judging by EMI's recent sales, those severance checks might be wishful thinking.

In addition to cutting 2,000 jobs, the article reports that EMI will cut their marketing budget considerably. Because I guess nobody has to actually hear about the music before they buy it? A&R however, will be spending more money to attract new artists (who, if signed, will receive no marketing money). Nonetheless, with A&R spending more dolla dolla bills, could they be working towards a revolution of their own? Coldplay doesn't think so. The band has been the subject of rumors that they might follow Radiohead’s strategy of releasing their next album without a major label.

Off to apply to EMI,
Josh
