Did you really think we would make it through the first week of 2010 without hearing Kanye West babble? Kanye has revealed he is currently in the studio recording new material. Kanye hinted that he'll be taking a further step away from rap on the album, and in arrogant self-loving form, likened himself to a "true poet", someone akin to Maya Angelou, on his blog.
Kanye has spent more time making headlines over the past year than actual music. Culminating in the rushing of the stage at the 2009 MTV VMAs to interrupt Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech (the straw that broke the camel's back with regard to public opinion about the "rapper") a stunt that most likely led to the cancellation of West's Fame Kills tour with Lady Gaga.
With all the negative press last year, West writes that he hopes his art is remembered for “accurately representing what is happening now” in culture. Note to Kanye: it's Middle America (read: young white kids) who buys your albums, and its Middle America you've been pissing off for the past two years. What's happening now in culture? They seem to be so over Kanye.
And for the record.....
Great poetry:
But a caged BIRD stands on the grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.
Lousy Poetry:
She like fuck it, I’ll just stay down herre and do hair
Cause that’s enough money to buy her a few pairs of new Airs
Cause her baby daddy don’t really care.
All Falls Down
