Flat out.....I haven't been this excited for a new band since MGMT was signed. I got the FREE Amazing Baby EP about a week ago and it's fucking life changing. This Brooklyn-based new psych rock outfit will draw obvious comparisons to MGMT and rightfully so. Amazing Baby will take listeners on a journey through every 4-minute-epic in their arsenal. Together for just over a year now, the core duo of Will Roan and Simon O'Connor (along with a fantastic cast of rotating musicians), blend unique sounds incorporating psych, pop, rock, even folk to create music more suitable for psychedelic drugs and stereo headphones than soccer moms and the daily commute. AND I FUCKING LOVE IT. Did I mention O'Connor played with the MGMT guys while all of them attended Wesleyan? Amazing Baby will definitely make the biggest impact at SXSW this year and will without a doubt be the breakout band of the next year, if they can overcome the MGMT baby brother syndrome that everyone will surely place on them.
