After giving their album, Stuck on Nothing, a few listens, I never really became a fan of Free Energy. It just felt like the album could have been made anytime between 1993 and 2003. All I heard were songs that sounded like they've been recycled 100 times over. Many people continue to disagree with me and love the album. To each their own I guess. Anyway, just took a look at the video for the song "Bang Pop" and it's actually well-made and amusing to watch. So you win, Free Energy. One way or another, you've got me listening to your music.

The Delta Mirror - "A Song About The End"
If there's one album you must own this year (although I may say that 100 more times this year), you need to get The Delta Mirror's Machines That Listen. I shared a track on one of my early playlists "He Was Worse Than The Needle He Gave" and thought I would also share the album closer "A Song About The End".Cults Play First Ever Show
One of my favorite bands of 2010, Cults, recently played their first show at Mercury Lounge. I wish there were more videos, because judging from this video of "Go Outside", the band certainly didn't have any first show jitters.
VIDEO: Gayngs - "Cry"
Gayngs will release Relayted next Tuesday and to create a little extra buzz, have created a video for their take on Godley & Creme's "Cry". These guys really know how to make some great slow-motion rock.

LIVE: MGMT at UNH 4/30/10
Truth be told, I was a little less than excited to see MGMT bring their new album Congratulations on the road with them. Boy was I wrong. With all the reviews I read from Coachella, the only thing people couldn't believe was how MGMT didn't play "Kids". No real reviews, no advice to give those who were thinking about checking out the band, nothing but hate for not playing a popular song. Well they did play "Kids" in their encore Friday night but that certainly wasn't the only highlight.
Opening up for MGMT was a band called The Willows. A group who wants to be Kings of Leon so badly, I can't even talk about them. Seriously, that's all I got. MGMT took the stage of the sold out UNH field house and opened up with "Flash Delirium". Even live, I just couldn't get into this song and I was glad the band got it out of the way first. It was also nice to see that their second guitarist wasn't losing his eyeballs this time, like he was on SNL.
I was sure their set would be almost entirely new songs, but gladly it ended up being about a 50-50 split between Congratulations and Oracular Spectacular. They commanded the stage and kept the audience fully engaged for their entire set. I should say, while it seemed everyone was loving the show, there was a clear bias toward songs off the old album. Maybe it's that people just didn't know the songs well enough, I don't know. But when the band got into songs like "Time To Pretend" and "Electric Feel" the place turned into an all out dance party. Glow in the dark shutter shades tossed up on stage, which Andrew VanWyngarden proceeded to rock for a couple songs, and was that a bra I saw thrown up there too? Whatever the case, I'll definitely be spending my hard earned money to see MGMT again in the future.

NEW: Eminem - "Not Afraid"
After hearing that ridiculous freestyle the other day, I was psyched to learn that the first track off his upcoming album was unleashed on the world today. We're definitely getting back to the Eminem of old. He even goes so far as to diss his own album Relapse. I can feel the nostalgia.

VIDEO: Gauntlet Hair - "I Was Thinking..."
Watched this yesterday and forgot to post it up. Some kid, let's call him Tits McGee, put together a pretty creative unofficial fan video for "I Was Thinking...". Gauntlet Hair's 7" that includes this song, will be out shortly on Forest Family Records. My advice is to get it soon, because I was one of the people who waited to long to buy the Cults 7" from Forest Family and was disappointed when it sold out in days.

NEW: Eminem - "Despicable" Freestyle
This is one of the best Eminem freestyles I've heard in years. I'm actually getting really excited to hear the new album. Something I haven't been able to say for a few albums now. If Lebron really WANTED a scoring title, he would go out and get it. If Eminem really WANTED everyone hanging on his every word, he would make you.Eminem - "Despicable" Freestyle

VIDEO: M.I.A. "Born Free"
The last time I attempted to watch a 9 minute music video, I made it about 49 seconds into Lady Gaga and Beyonce trying to sell me a telephone. This one's a tad more sophisticated. A true work of art.

Music Journalist Delivers Anti-Music Blog Rant
Christopher Weingarten is a freelance music writer for Spin, Rolling Stone, and many other popular publications. He recently delivered a 10 minute speech that hit on the lack of authenticity in the blog/indie rock world. He attacks Hype Machine, Pitchfork, low-level blogs, the list goes on. I agree with everything he said in his speech, but I'll just choose to write about it on my low-level blog and hope for some Google hits instead of try to do anything to fix the situation.
Watch the rant here.

MP3: B.o.B. - "Not Lost" (Feat. T.I.)
I'm trying to limit the amount of B.o.B. posts I make, as it seems like everyday I turn on my computer there's another song off his upcoming album that hit the web. I decided to put this one up because it DIDN'T make the album due to clearance issues with the Coldplay sample from "Lost". It's actually a really good song and it's too bad it wasn't cleared.B.o.B. - "Not Lost" (Feat. T.I.)
VIDEO: MGMT play SNL
Kind of upset that I bought MGMT tickets before the new album came out. Probably still would have bought them anyway, but now I'm just 87% less excited. The band stopped by SNL to play "Flash Delirium" and "Brian Eno".
