I came across Spoons For Adam back in the last summer months, but never had a chance to any REAL listening. I finally sat down and opened my ears for a complete eargasm. "Chocolate Yahtzee" is an incredibly catchy pop tune. They really kick things up a notch with a chorus that will leave you singing hours later. It lacks a little substance in the verses, but what kind of pop single these days doesn't? The guitar solo is pure 80's coked-up hair metal. "Falling" sounds like something the band Garbage would have devised back in the 90's. The vocals overall are a little lacking and seem like they definitely need the protection of the instruments. That said, they could never pull off a real stripped-down acoustic ballad. And that's a big strike according to all that is commercialized pop music bullshit; but who am I to judge? I'll surely be checking these guys out for the first time this Saturday at The Underground. Desoto Jones is also on the bill, so pay the measly $5 cover can check out a couple decent bands.
