Sorry for de lay...

Sorry peeps! I know the number one rule about writing a blog is to keep the damn thing updated. In my defense, I flew home to visit family and friends who I hadn't seen since December. I know.....there's no excuse for my actions! But I also moved into a new condo at Rittenhouse Square so I've been unpacking and adjusting to the new lifestyle. Without sounding like an advertisement, this is by far the best part of philly I have ever lived in. Love the atmosphere, the people, everything's amazing down here! ANYWAYS... I'm back and ready to introduce you to Jealousy Curve. I know they've been around the Philly block once or twice, but they have a new album coming out and from the bits that I've heard, it's great. "Black Widow" is a huge step forward; reinforcing the Incubus sound they've been dancing around for close to a year now. Don't believe me? Listen to the old "We Never Wanted A Legacy" Here and compare it to the new "Black Widow" on their Myspace. These guys are well on their way. I know the band has been approached by labels in the past, with not much working out, but if the rest of this new album is as strong as "Black Widow", these guys will surely be garnering huge label attention. I'll be doing my usual scout work the rest of this week, but I'll be damn sure to catch these guys at their record release show this Friday at Grape Street. They go on around midnight, which will give me plenty of time to arrive early for a nightcap or 8. Want some incentive to go? Well...I'll be there, but also, pay the $10 to get in and get a free copy of the new album. Until next time. Keep your pimp hand strong....

War On Drugs @ JB's

So I checked out local Philly band The War On Drugs last night at Johnny Brenda's, aka the best music venue in Philly. They played about a 30 minute set to a crowd of around 30 people. It's hard for any Philly opener to drag people out of their apartments on a Tuesday night and I was surprised to see that many. They started the set with just two members on stage (well, the floor space in front of the stage as there was no room on the actual stage). "Taking The Farm" was by far their strongest during this opening set. The other three members then joined in to finish their 30 minutes. I was immediately caught off guard by the two drummers and really don't see a need for two, but hey whatever floats your boat. With all five members on stage, the best I can describe them is Vietnam meets Hockey. They have the ordered chaos that Vietnam utilizes so well paired with the lyrical content and vocal range of the singer in hockey. They're definitely worth giving a listen and even checking out live if you're in the minority of people who like to explore new music in this city. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes on these guys. As far as a second show goes to see The War On Drugs? Count me in.

The Time Has Come....

I never thought I'd turn into one of those people who writes a blog; yet here I sit, annoyed at the way the music industry is becoming thus forcing me to take action. I'm sure that no one will even read this....hell no one even knows it exists. But I couldn't sit idly by while the industry passes on incredible music, leaving the majority of music lovers in the dark. For those of you who blog and actively search out new music on the web, I'm sure you will know some of the bands I post about. For those of you who are just getting into the world of unsigned music searching, this site is for you. I believe in exposing acts that have what it takes to be successful at the major label level. This will not be a music industry news site, quite frankly because I don't have enough time during the day to sit here and post 27 times per day about the latest label fueds with Steve Jobs or whatever the case may be. I'm simply here to provide you with tunes to two-step, get-down, boogie-oogie, or rock-face to. I have a long, built up list of music that I plan on posting, but I'm going to space it out over the course of the next few weeks. Expect a couple of bands every week (I have two full-time jobs here people). Belive me, you won't be dissapointed! Keep in mind that this is my first blogging experience, so cut me some slack. But of course, no one is going to read this thing anyway. Until next time.....
